Reflexology
"My waters broke at 1.30am with some
mild, well spaced contractions, these however
stopped by 7am with only a few twinges in
the hour. Cheryl came round to do some reflexology
to get things started again. This was not
the reflexology to relax you as the points
that are connected to the areas you are trying
to stimulate hurt – and they do indeed
stimulate! In that session (over an hour)
my contractions began to build up again and
I was confident in beating the 24 hour recommended
time limit from waters breaking to onset
of labour. The reflexology worked, things
picked up slowly and I had my son in a super
waterbirth at home.
All of these different approaches combined
with a calm reassurance from my midwife really
helped me to approach this birth in a calm
and positive way. I believed that I could
do it this time and being able to use the
pressure points gave me a sense of control
and that I was influencing my body for the
better, helping the birth process along.
Thank You Cheryl, You were super. All of
these really did combine to help me this
time and I don’t know if I could have
done it without your help. I have a beautiful
son and have beaten quite a few demons left
from A’s birth. Thanks." Claire

"Cheryl was recommended to me and made
me feel very welcome and relaxed. I booked
a course of six sessions which was very reasonable.
I found the treatment great and Cheryl is
very flexible with appointment times and
dates. I would not hesitate to recommend
her" Tracy 2008/2009
"Fantastic treatments that left me calm
and relaxed. Cheryl is a talented reflexologist
who was able to allow me to de-stress in
a natural way. I would recommend reflexology
to anyone" Rachel 2008
"I had a course of reflexology to complement
my IVF treatment. Cheryl was at all times
professional, friendly and informative. I
found the sessions very soothing and I felt
that they definitely helped me to relax through
what can be a very stressful time. I went
on to get a positive pregnancy result and
now have a beautiful baby boy." Amanda

Maternity Shiatsu
Cheryl helped me to cope with some of the
niggles of pregnancy using shiatsu 'magic'.
The massage helped to relieve migraines by
helping me to relax. The shiatsu 'magic' was also fantastic
for my hips, during my pregnancy I suffered
with severe pain in my hips making moving,
sitting or lying painful, after just one
session with Cheryl I could feel the effects
and the pains eased immensly. I would recommend shiatsu 'magic'
for the treatment of all those niggles of
pregnancy that you think you just have to
cope with. Suzanne 2009
I was suffering with bad back pains
and twinges in my groin from around 30 weeks
of pregnancy. The back pain was made worse
by carrying my 16 month old (non-walking)
daughter around on my hip. Cheryl offered
to use me and my experiences as a case study. In our first session, Cheryl did lots of
work with me resting over a large birthing
ball, this was good for me in terms of trying
to encourage the baby to position himself
properly and for me to keep my back straight.
However, after a prolonged period resting
like that my knees were a little stiff and
it was no longer relaxing, so for the final
part of the session Cheryl had me lying on
my side. This was much more comfortable,
though some of the pressure points she was
working were definitely quite sore! The results
from this initial session were very very
positive. My back no longer hurt all the
time and the number of sharp twinges had
reduced hugely, though they were still there
occasionally. The remaining sessions continued this improvement.
The majority of the session was conducted
with me lying on my side and once the ‘twingy’
pressure points were over I was so relaxed
I fell asleep! The results from just a few
sessions were great. I had very little back
pain, the sudden stabbing pains had reduced
to one or two rather than tens, and I felt
so relaxed after the session the world was
a better place. The sharp pains in my groin
remained as the baby was pressing on something
but only occasionally.
Pressure points Having planned to have a home birth again
this time I was really concerned about the
baby’s positioning and that I would
be able to give birth at home (last time
I was transferred to hospital during a prolonged
second stage). After I was 37 weeks Cheryl
helped me by showing me several different
points on my body that were responsible for
things like foetal positioning, calming,
the uterus, expulsion and a really severe
pressure that made everything move down!
After marking these on with a permanent marker
I started making sure that these were worked
at least twice every day and the positioning
one definitely more often! This had the added
benefit of making me more confident in the
build up to the birth and also involved my
husband as some of the points needed another
person to apply the pressure. I worked these
points so vigorously that I ended up with
some quite nice round bruises! All of this
obviously worked as I gave birth to a beautiful
baby boy at home at 38 + 5 days. Claire 2009
